Job Overview
We are seeking a Financial Controller to oversee all aspects of financial management, including corporate accounting, financial reporting, budget and forecasts preparation, as well as the development of internal control policies and procedures. The ideal candidate will collaborate with the team to drive commercial results and growth within this dynamic broadcasting environment.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
Oversee the preparation and presentation of monthly management accounts to senior leadership and annual financial statements.
Conduct monthly group reporting and quarterly reviews with executive leadership.
Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and general ledger.
Prepare and present financial reports to senior management and stakeholders.
Lead the budgeting and forecasting processes to support the company’s financial goals.
Compliance & Regulatory
Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements, including VAT, corporation tax, and payroll taxes.
Liaise with external auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory authorities as required.
Maintain proper documentation and implement internal controls to safeguard company assets.
Strategic Financial Planning
Provide financial analysis, insights, and recommendations to drive profitability and efficiency.
Develop long-term financial strategies aligned with the company’s growth objectives.
Advise on risk management strategies, including insurance.
Cost Management & Optimization
Implement cost-control measures to improve operational efficiency.
Monitor, analyze, and report on expenditures, ensuring costs remain within the approved budget.
Lead initiatives to enhance revenue streams and manage cash flow effectively.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
Lead and mentor Accounts staff, providing guidance and support in daily operations.
Work closely with other departments (sales, programming, operations) to align financial planning with overall business objectives.
Collaborate with external parties, such as banks, insurance providers, and legal consultants, as necessary.
Systems & Process Improvements
Use the group’s financial software system for efficient financial management.
Continuously review and improve financial processes and internal controls to ensure best practices.
Qualifications & Skills
Essential:
Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or qualified by experience (QBE).
2 years of financial management experience.
Knowledge of Irish tax regulations, including corporate and VAT.
Experience in the financial operations of a small to medium-sized business.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, Xero, AIQ) and Microsoft Excel.
Strong communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable:
Experience in the media or broadcasting industry.
Experience with fundraising or securing grants for media businesses.
