BMS Automation Engineer
Job description
Our client has a biopharmaceutical production facility in Blanchardstown, Dublin, focusing on the production of active pharmaceutical ingredients (APIs).

CIM are looking for an experienced Building Management System (BMS) Automation Engineer to expand an onsite project support service we provide our client.
This is an office hours position. The successful candidate shall join the onsite team which provides BMS automation expertise to various functions onsite. As a contract, the position offers excellent rates and the opportunity for a long-term placement.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Lead the upgrade, operation, maintenance, and optimisation of Qualified (GxP) and Non-Qualified (non-GxP) Building Management Systems, ensuring seamless functionality across the facility.
Oversee the design, configuration, and commissioning of BMS infrastructure, with a focus on maintaining system reliability and compliance.
Serve as the technical lead for Siemens Desigo-based systems, leveraging expertise to optimise system performance and troubleshoot complex issues.
Act as a subject matter expert (SME) for BMS, providing guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and technicians.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality assurance, and facilities management, to ensure alignment of BMS operations with business needs.
Manage relationships with external vendors and contractors, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of services and upgrades.
Identify opportunities to improve system performance, energy efficiency, and sustainability.
Stay up to date with emerging trends and technologies in BMS and apply innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
Expertise in BMS system commissioning, including HVAC controls, environmental monitoring, and energy management systems.
Knowledge of integration protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, or OPC for system interoperability.
Develop and implement best practices for BMS operations, maintenance, and compliance in a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment.
Skills and Education:
Third level qualification in Electrical, Electronic, Systems Engineering, Computer Science or Equivalent
3+ years’ experience working with BMS automated control systems preferably in the Life Sciences/ Pharma sector
Excellent communication skills
BMS System experience with preference for the following technologies: ABB Cylon, Siemens Desigo CC.
Knowledge of GAMP software development lifecycle, ANSI/ISA-S88 and S95 industry standards and 21 CFR Part 11
