Job Overview:
Our client is seeking an experienced Dental Hygienist to join their dedicated team at a well-established dental practice in the midlands. As a key member of our team, you will provide high-quality preventative dental care, promote oral health education, and work closely with the dentist to ensure patients maintain optimal oral hygiene.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform Routine Cleanings: Conduct thorough dental cleanings to remove plaque, tartar, and stains from teeth, ensuring patients maintain good oral hygiene.
- Examine Patients' Oral Health: Assess the condition of patients' teeth and gums, identifying signs of disease, decay, or other dental issues, and document findings.
- Provide Preventive Care: Educate patients on proper brushing, flossing techniques, and other oral hygiene habits to help prevent future dental problems.
- Administer Local Anaesthesia: Where applicable, administer local anaesthetic to patients before procedures, in accordance with dental regulations.
- Assist in Treatment Planning: Work with the dentist to develop individualised treatment plans, provide patient education, and offer advice on oral health and disease prevention.
- Sterilize Instruments: Ensure all dental instruments are properly sterilised and maintained in accordance with health and safety guidelines.
- Maintain Patient Records: Update and maintain accurate patient records, documenting treatments performed, patient concerns, and progress.
- Promote Oral Health Education: Advocate for overall oral health by discussing lifestyle choices, nutrition, and their impact on dental well-being.
- Support and Collaborate: Work closely with other dental professionals in the practice to ensure a high level of patient care and a smooth workflow.
- Dental Hygiene Qualification: A recognised qualification in dental hygiene and current registration with the Dental Council Of Ireland
- Experience: Previous experience as a dental hygienist or new graduates are welcome to apply.
- Patient-Focused Care: Ability to build rapport with patients, providing gentle, compassionate care while addressing any concerns they may have.
- Team Player: Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with dentists, dental assistants, and other support staff.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to maintain high standards of care, with excellent attention to detail in patient records and clinical procedures.
- Knowledge of Health and Safety Regulations: Familiarity with infection control protocols, health and safety regulations, and best practices in patient care.
