Senior National Account Manager

Our client with offices in Banbury and Ireland is looking to hire an experienced National Account Manager to join their existing team to manage the existing clients and drive sales growth across the country.
Reporting to the Commercial Director, the individual will have responsibility for managing and leading all activities for the national accounts, grocery multiples, wholesalers, regional pharmacies & Independent pharmacies. Working at the highest level, you will be a member of the Sales Leadership team, where you will take responsibility for the running of the function.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Drive the sales and be ultimately responsible for the performance of a portfolio of products, all OTC or consumer healthcare ranges in the UK.
  • The National Account Manager is accountable for delivering the P&L for the given partner portfolios across OTC, H&B businesses in the UK market.
  • Manage the key accounts, wholesalers, regional pharmacy groups, independent pharmacies and multiples across the UK, identify and deliver significant and sustainable profitable growth.
  • Developing strong trust and long-term relationships with a portfolio of key customers/buyers.
  • Reporting on the business performance on a monthly basis.
  • Identify and drive new business acquisition via new retail customers or new brand/product launches with existing customers through forward-thinking strategy, market knowledge and understanding.
  • Develop & Implement Business Development plans for new customers & clients within the market.
  • Attend networking & trade events to maximise the profile of the business.
  • Execute the business strategy and develop and implement specific account plans through customer annual JBP’s
  • Own the trading and strategic relationship with customers and will be responsible for continuing the growth of your portfolio.
  • Identify opportunities within the P&L internally and externally to lead the Commercial agenda.
  • Ensure correct and timely budget planning and the management of the budget for sales function, to include sales revenue and margin return.
  • Compliance monitoring on commercial terms & deliver financial and volume forecast accuracy on monthly, quarterly and annual basis.
  • Reporting & maintenance of necessary customer trackers for key brands & products.
  • Cross-Functional Team ownership with E-Commerce Team, accountability and behaviour setting.
  • Serve as the link of communication between head office and key customers and internal teams
  • Evaluate all promotions and update promotional strategies monthly/quarterly.
Previous Experience/Qualifications:
  • 5 years plus National/Key Account Manager experience at a senior level in blue chip preferred with Multiples & Pharmacy Experience.
  • Business Development experience in recruiting & onboarding new retail customers.
  • Experience managing a major grocery retailer in the UK is essential.
  • Client Management experience working with Brand Partners & Principals.
  • Business Development experience in bringing new brands to market
  • Evidence of negotiation skills and strategic growth contribution required
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of the OTC space in the UK and the layers of key accounts
  • Experience working with Pharmacy/Multiple/Distributor/Manufacturers customers.
  • Experience with commercial deals and knowledge of what’s expected in terms of margins /deals
  • Has the ability to look at a brand and form a plan of how to grow that in the Key accounts
  • Attention to detail is a must with an ability to summarise and communicate the outputs of complex and lengthy documents, excellent communication, presentation skills and commercial acumen
  • Strong P&L management experience, especially managing customer P&L’s.
  • Strong ability to influence and lead & good relationship builder.
  • Proficient in Excel, PowerPoint & Power BI.
Additional Information:
  • Please note this is a full-time, permanent, remote/hybrid role covering the UK, with a requirement to be in the Banbury office every week. Amount to be discussed depending on location.
