Junior Accounts Assistant

Job Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Accounts Assistant to join our finance team. This entry-level position is ideal for a recent graduate who is eager to start their career in accounting and finance. The successful candidate will assist with day-to-day financial transactions, maintain accurate financial records, and support the finance team in ensuring the smooth running of the department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accounts Payable & Receivable:

    • Assist in processing invoices, purchase orders, and expense reports.
    • Help in reconciling supplier statements and resolving discrepancies.
    • Support the team in managing accounts receivable, including processing customer payments and following up on outstanding invoices.
  • Bank Reconciliation:

    • Assist in reconciling company bank statements with accounting records.
    • Ensure timely and accurate processing of transactions.
  • Data Entry:

    • Accurately input financial data into accounting systems.
    • Maintain and update financial records, ensuring they are complete and organized.
  • Financial Reporting:

    • Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
    • Support the finance team in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
  • General Ledger Maintenance:

    • Assist in maintaining the general ledger by posting and verifying journal entries.
    • Help in ensuring all financial transactions are properly recorded and classified.
  • Administrative Support:

    • Provide administrative support to the finance team as needed, including filing, answering queries, and assisting with audits.
  • Learning and Development:

    • Take initiative in learning new accounting practices and tools.
    • Attend relevant training sessions and workshops to enhance accounting knowledge and skills.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Education:

    • A degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills:

    • Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
    • Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) is a plus but not required.
  • Personal Attributes:

    • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
    • Good organizational and time management skills.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
    • Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges.
  • Experience:

    • Previous internship or part-time experience in an accounting or finance role is advantageous but not required.
