Procurement Manager

Location: Waterford

The Senior Procurement Manager will lead procurement activities at the Plant, driving efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and compliance in the supply chain. This role requires developing procurement strategies, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring the timely acquisition of materials, equipment, and services. Collaborating closely with cross-functional departments and the Global Procurement team, the Procurement Manager will ensure procurement strategies align with business goals while meeting cost, quality, and inventory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement Strategy & Leadership

  • Manage the local procurement team, providing leadership and fostering development.

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with organizational objectives.

  • Collaborate with the Global Procurement team to leverage global sourcing opportunities.

  • Work with Global Category Managers to optimize procurement across various product categories.

Supplier Management

  • Conduct market analysis to identify potential suppliers and monitor market trends.

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers, conducting regular performance reviews.

  • Negotiate contracts and agreements to secure favorable terms and conditions.

  • Provide leadership on sourcing and contracting with contact lens suppliers.

Operational Excellence

  • Ensure the fulfillment of all demand requirements for components, raw materials, direct materials, and packaging.

  • Monitor supplier performance and resolve issues to maintain quality and performance standards.

  • Meet budget, inventory, and cost savings targets, driving cost reduction initiatives.

  • Support New Product Introductions, implementing risk mitigation strategies to minimize supply disruptions.

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, relevant regulations, and government requirements, particularly for goods imported outside the EU.

Continuous Improvement

  • Analyze procurement spend data to identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Continuously evaluate and improve procurement processes and systems.

  • Implement best practices to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in procurement operations.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: 7-10 years in procurement or supply chain management, with at least 3 years in a managerial role.

  • Education: Purchasing & Materials Management (IIPMM) degree or equivalent qualification.

  • Skills:

  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.

  • ERP LX knowledge preferred; MRP experience essential.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

  • Industry Experience: Background in healthcare or pharmaceutical industries is highly desirable.

    • Knowledge: Familiarity with global sourcing and international procurement practices.
